Bhopal, July 5, 2012 (HMNS) On
the eve of the first phase of the urban bodies’ election, State
Congress has alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not only
politicised the urban bodies but has pushed them deep in corruption.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Kantilal Bhuria in
an appeal to the electorate said that the basic work of the urban
bodies is to make available drinking water, better roads, cleanliness
and lighting. These bodies could perform these duties in a better way it
is necessary that they should remain free from corruption and politics.
On the contrary, the BJP in its eight year rule of the state has not
only politicised these institutions but has drown them deep in
corruption. In these circumstances it is necessary that these
institutions should be made free from politics and corruption and for
that the people should vote for the candidates of Congress.
Bhuria further said that the victory of Congress is more necessary in
these institutions because it is time when the people should start
getting public facilities and the works in this regard could be managed
in proper way. The BJP has made lame different government and semi
government organisations for its own political benefits. The condition
have gone so worst that the corruption after gripping municipal
corporations, development authorities and other government organisations
of major cities of the state is moving towards smaller towns, he added.
He said to save the 49 urban bodies that are going to polls in two
phases on July 5 and 7, there is no alternative except for bringing
Congress in power. Congress has fielded enthusiastic, devoted, clear
image and tested candidates in these elections. The Congress candidates
are those who would remain in the public even after winning the
elections, he added.
He said that the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA)
government of the centre is running many schemes for the urban bodies
and the people should handover the command of local bodies to the
Congress for availing benefits of all those schemes.
