Yogesh Sharma – great person, excellent scribe

Bhopal, May 1, 2012
Yogesh Sharma, who died of a massive heart attack at the age of 50 years on April 30, 2012 at Bhopal and cremated on May 1, 2012, was among the rare breed of perfect human beings. He served Madhya Pradesh Government’s Directorate of Public Relations for over 30 years. My association with him had been for about 4 years. That much period of time is enough to judge a person’s demeanor. He was among the rare populace, who has single-minded pursuits, straightforward approach, candid and honest expression and impeccable character. His dedication and hard work was exemplary. He was also a great writer. He had the uncanny ability of expression. When he wrote, words, idioms and phrases served as his humble servants. Yogesh Sharma was such a juggler of words that drabbest of news items and subjects became readable and interesting when written by him.  Yogesh Sharma had evolved his own style of writing news. Headlines of his news were always in multi-decks and the news item was broken into several sections each carrying a sub-headline.

Yogesh Sharma had equal command over Hindi and Urdu words and used to judiciously mix them to create a perfect impact on readers. His writings were like soothing flow of crystal clear water of a stream. Had Yogesh Sharma taken interest in literary writings, he would have become a very important litterateur of Hindi. He was to settle at his hometown Ujjain after May 20 where he was to be posted in the Municipal Corporation. Yogesh Sharma was devoted to Lord Shiva and longed to serve him for rest of his life after settling in the City of Mahakal. But that was not to be. On April 30, 2012, he complained of uneasiness at about 4 pm and went back to his house. He collapsed at the door of his house and was rushed to JP Hospital (1250) where doctors advised to take him to a heart hospital. Doctors at the hospital tried their best, but Yogesh Sharma could not be revived.

Yogesh Sharma had also thorough secular credentials. He was a product of Saifia College, Bhopal, a minority institutions. Despite being a devout Hindu and great devotee of Lord Shiva, he had not even an iota of communal tendencies. He was a perfect representative of Hinduism. The country needs more of such devoted, honest, transparent, dedicated and secular persons. The country and the state have suffered an irreparable loss in his death. This my last salute to Yogesh Sharma, who has passed into immortality.

Assistant Director in the Directorate of Public Relations Yogesh Sharma is survived by  his wife, two sons and one daughter. He was cremated on May 1,  10.30 am. at Bhadbhada Crematorium. His last procession was taken out from his residence F-90/26, Tulsi Nagar, Bhopal.
