Leader of opposition making intervention in CBI functioning: Mr Gupta

Bhopal, December 23, 2011 (Ataullah Faizan):  Home Minister Mr Umashankar Gupta has described as politically motivated the Vidhan Sabha Leader of Opposition's allegation that the State Government is not cooperating with CBI in some cases. Mr Gupta asked whether the CBI is reporting to Leader of Opposition in the cases related to Madhya Pradesh at the behest of the Union Government on the basis of which he is saying that Madhya Pradesh is not cooperating in investigation.

The Home Minister said that cases have been handed over to CBI by the State Government itself. The State Government has given whatever cooperation has been sought from it. The CBI has never said that the State Government is not cooperating with the investigating agency in any case.
The Home Minister asked Leader of Opposition to tell on what basis he is leveling the baseless allegation that the State Government is not cooperating with CBI, thereby trying to tarnish Madhya Pradesh's image. The memorandum handed over to the Home Minister alleging non-cooperating with CBI by the State Government goes to prove that Congress makes political intervention in CBI's functioning. It seems that Leader of Opposition is taking more interest in working as the self-styled spokesman of CBI than working in the interest of the state. He said that Madhya Pradesh is far better in law & order situation and Leader of Opposition is well aware of this fact. He is making false allegations just for the sake of leveling allegations. The Home Minister said that Leader of Opposition is lowering the dignity of his office by levelling baseless and ridiculous allegations.
