Rs 755.10 crore to be spent on second phase electrification works


Schemes of 18 districts sanctioned under Rajiv Gandhi rural electrification scheme
Bhopal, December 27, 2011 (Ataullah Faizan): Electrification works of 18 districts of Madhya Pradesh have been sanctioned under the second phase of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme. A sum of Rs. 755.10 crore will be spent on these works. This phase of the scheme will cover 63 non-electrified villages and four lakh 57 thousand 318 BPL beneficiaries living in 14 thousand 692 electrified villages.

Not only non-electrified villages have been included in the scheme, but electrification density is also being increased as per new definition in 14 thousand 692 electrified villages. Chhatarpur and Satna districts where work could not be accomplished in the first phase have also been included in this phase. Additional schemes have been chalked out for both these districts.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan had been making correspondence with the Union Government for the sanction of this scheme.
Under the second phase of electrification, a sum of Rs. 25. 15 crore has been sanctioned for Bhopal where 15 thousand 989 beneficiaries in 499 electrified villages have been included. Similarly, a sum of Rs. 29 crore for Gwalior district, Rs. 44.56 crore for Hoshangabad, Rs. 63.19 crore has been sanctioned for Raisen district, Rs. 81.43 crore for Rajgarh district, Rs, 45.57 crore for Sehore, Rs. 71.63 crore for Vidisha, Rs. 44.96 crore for Bhind, Rs. 19.12 crore for Burhanpur, Rs. 50.38 crore for Dewas, Rs. 33.49 crore for Khandwa, Rs. 70.98 crore for Khargone, Rs. 40.76 crore for Mandsaur, Rs. 20.32 crore for Neemuch, Rs. 52.31 crore for Shajapur, Rs. 37.62 crore for Chhatarpur and Rs. 24.14 crore for Satna district.
