Mining mafia attack police in Morena

Bhopal,June 18,  2012 (HMNS): Despite several measures to stop illegal mining in the region, the district administration of Morena and task forces have not taken any stern action in this regard.
The morale of the mining mafia has risen as the death of IPS officer Narendra Kumar was proved to be a case of non-culpable homicide.

The mining mafia operating in the Chambal river is continuously attacking police personnel who try to stop them and the task forces along with the departments concerned seem negligent in this regard. The reason behind this negligent behaviour has been put down to lack of proper preparation and planning.

The attack on DSP Manjulata Patle in Mata Basiya police station area in Morena district, on Sunday clearly exposes the increased morale of the mining mafia in the region.

While returning from Mataabsaiya police station on Sunday evening, Patle was informed that some people are transporting illegally mined sand in tractor-trolleys on the Imliya-Firozpur rural road. When she tried to stop the tractor-trolleys, she was deliberately attacked by the people of the mining mafia.

This incident is not an isolated one as there have been similar incidents of attack on police personnel and officers by the mining mafia in the region.

The morale of the mining mafia is such that they not only attack police personnel and officers who try to stop them but also rob their transport without any fear of the law.

The task forces have raided just one stone mine following the incident of Kumar’s non-culpable homicide. Irregular patrolling of task forces in the Chambal sanctuary region still continues.
