Shivraj’s Hindutva face surfaces

Bhopal, June 14, 2012 (HMNS)
The fast and the 'Anushthan' to be launched by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan against the hike in fertiliser prices has once again sparked a row between the government and the party organisation. But by naming his protest 'Anusthan'- a purely Hindu religious term- the state government has again asserted its Hindutvavadi credentials. Farmers come from all religions and naming a stir purportedly aimed at benefiting the kisans after a Hindu ritual defies logic, critics say.

When Chauhan in February, 2011, had declared to launchVikas Yatra and fast, BJP organisation had termed it as its own programme while the then chief secretary Avani Vaish and a team of officers were busy in making preparations for the fast at BHELs Dussehra Maidan.
BJP state president Prabhat Jha maintains that this programme is purely related to party organisation. It is interesting that when the declaration for fast was made in CM House, agriculture production commissioner M M Upadhyaya and Markfed managing director Ajay Tirki were present with Chauhan in the press conference.
This clearly shows that government is making preparations and the arrangements for this programme of party organisation. In the press conference, BJP district president Alok Sharma, office secretary Alok Sanjar besides government officials, were sharing the podium with Chauhan.
