‘Shivraj should reduce taxes on fertilisers rather than fasting’

Bhopal, June 14, 2012 (HMNS) : The State Congress on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has failed in governing the State and is now trying to gain the favour of the people by observing fasts.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh in a statement said that rather than coming out with gimmicks like fasting, the Chief Minister should focus on the increase in the price of fertilisers and should try to reduce it.
Singh further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State should reduce the taxes on petrol and food products.
He alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should not stage such dramas in every now and then instead he should focus on the development of the State.
“If the Chief Minister had declared to end the tax on fertilisers instead of his declaration of going on a fast on June 15, then it would have expressed his concern for the farmers. But now he has shown just the opposite,” Singh added.
The Leader of Opposition alleged that with the issue of gunny bag crisis and scam in the bag purchase have exposed the ruling BJP and the Chief Minister who claimed to be pro-farmer. Chouhan still considers him as a Leader of Opposition party and he has never learnt to work as a Chief Minister, he alleged.
Singh said that at present, the Chief Minister has stopped considering corruption as a problem in the State and believes that corruption has become an essential part of working in the State.
