80 women PSC candidates scoring
higher than males not selected
Bhopal, June 24, 2012 (HMNS): The State government, touting its proactive
approach on policies related with women empowerment, has got a rap from none
other than the States own Woman Commission (SWC). The SWC has pointed finger at
the state government for not adhering to reservation policy for women in
government jobs. It has taken a strong note of the complaints made by different
persons in this regard.
The commission slapped notices on
the State government and MP Public Service Commission, for not selecting female
candidates in civil services despite they getting marks more than male
candidates.
A total of 80 female candidates
were not selected in MPPSC examination in 2005, 2008 and 2009 - the years when
recruitment was made in civil and allied services in the state government.
The female candidates had scored
more marks than male candidates who were selected contrary to the 33 percent
reservation policy.
The state government itself had
given the figure in last assembly session on a question of independent MLA
Paras Sakhlecha.
Also, 109 candidates scoring more
marks than male candidates were not invited for interviews in the three
examinations. Nobody in the commission had a clear reply as to howit happened.
" It shows that MPPSC and
the government both did not follow reservation policy for women fully,
Commission chairperson Upma Rai told Free Press.
The SWC took the matter
seriously, though seven years too late and issued notices.
" This issue was earlier
raised in state assembly in March and November sessions and the state
government had not given a clear reply," said sources.
